Honey Bee
Apis mellifera
free relocationProtected pollinators. We never destroy honey bees — swarms are relocated with our network of Cork beekeepers.
How to identify
- 10–15mm, golden-brown with a hairy thorax
- Swarms form a dense cluster the size of a rugby ball, often on a branch or wall
- Permanent colonies live in chimneys, wall cavities and old tree trunks
Risk level
Generally placid. Swarms look alarming but are rarely aggressive — they're looking for a new home, not defending one.
Our treatment
Free swarm collection and relocation in coordination with Cork Beekeepers Association. Cavity colonies require careful cut-out work.
